[edit] General beliefs about Wikipedia
- I believe that articles that are non-American in origin should be written using World Standard English (i.e. Colour not Color). As the majority of the English speaking world use this form (such as, Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Ireland, and South Africa).
- History articles should start using the dating system of BCE/CE as opposed to BC and AD. Christianity should not have a monopoly on the dating of history, it is a discipline shared by millions of people from different religious and non-religious backgrounds. Moreover, just because its been used for a long time does not necessitate its usage today. Also modern historians are increasingly in numbers using the BCE/CE abbreviation.
- Additions to historical articles made by users, whether that is commentary or general information, should in some form be substantiated. As a teacher it is very important that students be able to show the sources in which they have based their inquiry or research task.
