Doriva
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Doriva, full name Dorival Guidoni Júnior (born May 28, 1972 in Nhandeara, São Paulo) is a Brazilian football midfielder, who is currently without a club, after a spell playing for Middlesbrough.
Prior to joining to Middlesbrough, Doriva played for São Paulo, Atlético Mineiro, Porto, Sampdoria, and Celta Vigo. He was part of the Brazil squad at the 1998 FIFA World Cup.
Despite this Doriva has never been more than a fringe player at Middlesbrough due to George Boateng being the first choice holding midfielder. Ironically, when Doriva was given a first choice berth, Middlesbrough won the only trophy in their 129 year history.
In 2005 he earned a one-year contract extension. However in July 2006, Middlesbrough allowed his contract to expire.
