Dorako
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dorako (ドラコ Dorako) is a monster from the television show Ultraman. Dorako appears in an episode which in English is entitled "Night of the Comet."
[edit] Ultraman
Dorako was one of three monsters -- the other two being Red King and Gigas -- who were all awakened or released due to cometary phenomenon. Dorako appears anthropomorphic, but has a birdlike beak, glassy wings (in addition to arms), a visibly segmented chitin, and a small crown of spikes on the head. Dorako fought briefly with both Gigas and Redking, but eventually was defeated by Redking, who stripped Dorako of his wings. Dorako was resurrected briefly by Geronimon in a later episode, but destroyed by Science Patrol's Ito.
[edit] Ultraman Powered
Dorako later reappaered in Ultraman: The Ultimate Hero as a bioweapon constructed by the Baltan. This Dorako greatly differed in appearance from its original look. It kept its beak, but that beak had been segmented and its wings turned into more avian in design. Its hooked claws were usually kept under sleeve-like folds of skin around its hands. It also displayed the ability to throw small serrated hooks from these folds. It first was confronted by a Male Red King but slit its throat, killing it. Ultraman then attacked the monster, but it proved largely resistant to his many energy attacks. In the end, Ultraman managed to defeat the monster--but this was just a prototype for an even stronger bioweapon the Baltan were designing: Z-Ton.
[edit] Trivia
Dorako is also the name of a Charabom from the Bomberman games. The bomberman Dorako resembled Godzilla without the spines and had a horn on his nose. His back, arms, and legs were red. His belly was white with a yellow V shape on it.
