[edit] Origins and Early Years

Founded by Victor Love, Grace Khold and Darin Yevonde. Each part of their name means something. "Dope" represents the doped, synthesized and Prozac-addicted acid that is in their blood. "Stars" represents their Rock 'n' Roll attitudes and "Inc." represents the industrial and cyberpunk side to the music.

[edit] Biography

Dope Stars Inc. was formed in the spring of 2003. The band began with the line-up of Victor Love (vocals), Grace Khold (synthesizers), Darin Yevonde (bass), and Brian Wolfram (guitar). Their idea was to create a "rock 'n' roll band with a gritty, highly seducing blend of punk attitude and industrial sonic attacks". Later that year, the band's first EP was released, titled 10.000 Watts of Artificial Pleasures EP.

DSI began working on their debut EP on May 8th, 2003. Victor Love took care of most of the songwriting, while Grace Khold helped with lyrics. The EP was recorded very swiftly and cost nothing to produce. Multiple pressings sold out and it is currently out of print due to the fact that most of the songs were re-recorded for their debut album, ://Neuromance.

[edit] "Digital Fuckers" and Trisol

When DSI chose to start production of their first full length release, they originally entitled it "New Breed of Digital Fuckers". This name was referenced to even after Trisol Music Group GmbH signed Dope Stars Inc. in February 2005. Also in February, Brian Wolfram left DSI and was replaced by Alex Vega, a guitarist for Klimt 1918.

In April, it was announced that Thomas Rainer, the man behind L'Âme Immortelle, would produce three tracks on the new album. It was also announced that John Fryer would act as a producer on the new album. The name of the album changed to ://Neuromance in June 2005. ://Neuromance is a reference to the William Gibson novel Neuromancer. William Gibson is credited with establishing the cyberpunk culture. ://Neuromance was released on August 22, 2005.

Throughout 2006 the band continued working on new material, and on August 4 they released the Make a Star EP.

[edit] Gigahearts

In October 2006 Dope Stars Inc. completed their sophomore album Gigahearts. It was released on 17 November, 2006.

Nearly a week before the release of Gigahearts the band announced that they would be posting select songs from the new album on their MySpace page, and alternating tracks every few days.
