- Pinball: On the bonus table (accessed through the hole on the bottom half), you play as Mario as you bounce the pinballs at blocks to try and free Pauline.

- Family Basic:
- On BG GRAPHIC mode, you can chose vines, ladders and so on from Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr.
- On GAME 0 you have to press a button or call into the Famicom Microphone to bring Mario and Pauline together and make a large heart appear above their heads.
- On GAME 3, subtitled Star Killer, you have to fly through the space shooting enemies-including the Fireballs from Donkey Kong.

- Smash Ping Pong: If you look closely, you can see Donkey Kong Jr in the crowd of otherwise identical faces. He cheers for Player 1.

- Tetris (NES version): complete the B Mode game on Speed 9, Height 5 to get a scene featuring many Nintendo characters dancing and playing music while your score is tallied. Among them is Donkey Kong beating a drum.

- F-1 Race (Game Boy version): Before each track you are cheered by a Nintendo character. Donkey Kong cheers you before Course 9. He appears again during the ending sequence.

- NES Open Tournament Golf: DK runs a prize money booth in this game.
- Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars:
- There are two enemies that use the Donkey Kong render from the Donkey Kong Country series: Guerilla and Chained Kong. And if you read Guerilla's mind (with Mallow's Psychopath) it says: "Don't confuse me with someone else!"
- There is also a section where you have to climb a tall hill while barrels roll down - a throwback to the original Donkey Kong arcade game.
- In Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, at Woohoo Hooniversity, Luigi is trapped in a barrel by a machine and Mario must go after him and jump over falling barrels in a throwback to the classic Donkey Kong arcade game. Also, aboard the S.S. Chuckola, a skeleton resembling Donkey Kong hosts a barrel-destroying mini-game. (This mini-game is later reworked for Mario Superstar Baseball.)

- Kirby Super Star: One of the treasures you can find during the The Great Cave Offensive is called Kong's Barrel.

- Goldeneye 007: One of the cheats is called DK Mode, and it gives all characters long arms and a big head like a gorilla. The cheat is named after Donkey Kong.

- From the main menu, select View, then select Show. The Show menu is decorated with the artwork from the Donkey Kong Jr. arcade cabinet, including Kong's Face and a growing Snapjaw as the cursor.
- In the Western version of the game, you can also decorate your image with Mario characters stamps-and this includes a Donkey Kong stamp.
- Finally, in the B-Album, unlock the picture B29 to see original artwork of Mario and Donkey Kong Jr from the arcade game.

- The Simpsons:
- Donkey Kong appears in the episode "Marge Be Not Proud", convincing Bart Simpson to shoplift a game alongside Mario, Luigi and Sonic the Hedgehog.
- He also appears at the beginning of "The Springfield Files", tossing a barrel at a man.
- There is an obvious Donkey Kong reference in Homer and Ned's Hail Mary Pass in which Mario, as an Italian tourist attempts to get his picture taken with Homer, who has been exposed around the world via the internet doing a ridiculous dance. Homer subsequently becomes enraged, throwing rubbish canisters at Mario in the same fashion as Donkey Kong throws barrels. The animation also becomes 2D and music from the arcade game plays. Mario escapes up Bart's treehouse, retrieves the hammer, and eventually trips on one of the canisters.
- Futurama:
- DK appears the Futurama episode Anthology of Interest II when Fry wonders what life would be if it was more like a video-game
- References are also made in A Bicyclops built for two, Space Pilot 3000, The Devils Hands are Idle Playthings, and The Birdbot of Icecatraz.
- In an episode of Weebl and Bob, It is revealed that Donkey Kong is Donkey (Chris the Ninja Pirate's dead wife)'s father.
- Dr.Slump
- After he says "So I spent the whole night playing videogames..." The game seen lightly is Donkey Kong.
- Moby's music video "We Are All Made of Stars" features the altered version of classic Donkey Kong arcade game as well as PacMan, Space Invader, and Frogger.
