Donald Hunsberger

Donald Hunsberger was born August 2, 1932 in Souderton, Pennsylvania. He was the conductor of the Eastman Wind Ensemble from 1965 until 2001. He also held the position of Professor of conducting at Eastman. He has conducted recordings, many with the Eastman Wind Ensemble and some with the trumpeter Wynton Marsalis. He has also arranged transcriptions of orchestral music for concert band.Among his most popular published works are: Shostakovitch Festive Overture; Kabalevsky's Colas Breugnon Overture, Grafulla's Echoes of the 1860's, Shostakovitch's Ballet Suite from Spartacus. In recent years, Dr. Hunsberger has rescored music for silent films, and has conducted performances with major symphony orchestras. He is also the author of a book on the Art of Conducting, and authored a newsletter for MCA Music on Wind Ensemble Music.
