Don Lionele Tommasino is a fictional character from the series of books and films called The Godfather.
He was an old friend of Vito Corleone who lived in Vito's native village 'Corleone'. He assisted Vito in the killing of Don Ciccio who had ordered the assassination of Vito Corleone's father Antonio Andolini and played a direct part in the death of his mother who had come to plead with him to spare her sons life; this was the reason for Vito to migrate to America. By killing Don Ciccio, Tommasino became the local Don of Corleone although he was crippled by a lupara shotgun blast from one of the Don's bodyguards.
When Michael killed the police captain McCluskey, it was to Don Tommasino's aid that Michael had been sent; he provided Michael with a place or refuge, safe from the law and those who might wish to kill him, as a favour to Don Vito whom he respected greatly. In 1978 Michael went to him in Sicily to seek advice for contacts within the Vatican to aid his takeover of the European conglomerate Immobiliare. A few days later Don Tommasino was killed by a hitman in his car with his bodyguard and driver when he refused to give the executioner safe passage into his home in order to kill Michael who was his guest.
In The Godfather he was portrayed by Corrado Gaipa.
In The Godfather Part II he was portrayed by Mario Cotone.
In The Godfather Part III he was portrayed by Vittorio Duse.
