Don Juan Avila Middle School

Don Juan Avila Middle School is located in Aliso Viejo, California, and currently has 1,300 students enrolled. Its principal is Chris Carter, and its assitant principals are Shannon Soto-Veeh and Josh Wellikson. It is located in the Capistrano Unified School District. It considered to be an excellent school, located within the top 10% of all of California's comparable middle schools, and it is a California Distinguished School. The school's ASB is outstanding, headed by teacher Kirschel Vollebregt and president Aley Davis. The school mascot is the bronco, it is combined with Don Juan Avila Elementary school whose mascot is the eagle.

The physical education program is one of the best middle school programs in the district. Other schools come and visit the school to watch the program. Each grade level has its own curriculum. The school does not have a gym, but it does have a large field, basketball courts, a rockwall added in 2006, an aerobics and dance room, and a fitness room with plenty of exercise machines and equipment. Some new equipment was added in 2006.
