Don Bosco School (Salesian Sisters) Inc. - Manila, is one of the schools owned and administered by the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco . It begun its operation in 1989 with a phase-in/phase-out program with the Don Bosco Technical College - Mandaluyong which was completed in 1992.

Since then, DBS became juridically independent. It received the Government Recognition for the complete elementary course and complete secondary course in 1995 and 1999 respectively.

In 1994, the first Grade 5 classes (all girls) started the Intermediate Level. In 1996, DBS held the First Commencement Exercises with 59 graduates in the Elementary Course.

In 2000, the program for Secondary Education was completed. It continues to respond to the needs of our times for academically and technologically prepared students. Since its foundation up to the present, the educative presence among the young has proved to be fruitful with the support of its Educating Community.

[edit] Vision and Mission

Vision Statement An educating community committed to the education of the whole person in the spirit and style of Don Bosco and Mother Mazzarello- accompanying the young in their journey of formation towards becoming mature apostles among their peers, builders of a Christian community as women and men of Christian conscience, commitment, competency, and social responsibility.

Mission Statement As an FMA Educating Community dedicated to the integral formation of the young with preference for those affected by different forms of poverty, we commit ourselves as:

• An Academic Community which offers the young quality academic and cultural formation animated by faith that serves with joy.

• A Filipino School which educates the young in the appreciation, preservation, and enrichment of our nation's culture and heritage in the spirit of stewardship thus contributing to the building of a just and humane society.

• A Catholic School which guides the young to discover for themselves the deep joy of friendship with Christ and the motherly guidance of Mary making them persons capable of right judgement, mature and responsible choices and service to others.

• A Salesian School which lives the Preventive System with its essential elements of reason, religion and loving kindness as an experience of communion and celebration of life shared among educators and with the young journeying together towards holiness.

[edit] The School Logo

The Crown and the Scepter symbolize Mary Help of Christians, the Mother and Teacher in every Salesian School.

The Lily stands for Radiant Purity which must be the shining virtue lived by every Salesian pupil and educator to a heroic degree in the daily.

The Rose stands for Charity - the Love of Christ the Good Shepherd, which impels every Salesian educator to value and see the educative potential in every young person on his/her road to salvation. It is the same love that challenges the young to respond to God's love by becoming his/her best and by "doing the ordinary things extraordinarily well in the right place and proper time and solely for the love of God" (Mother Mazzarello). It is also this love which imples the young to be protagonists in the society and in the Church, making their contribution for its building and development as servant-leaders imbued with Christian conscience, commitment, competence and social responsibility.
