"Don't You Want Me" was the third single from Jody Watley's self-titled debut, Jody Watley. "Don't You Want Me" was one of the biggest crossover singles of the 1987. After her previous single failed at Mainstream radio, but hit at dance and R&B, MCA records decided to go for a more commercial sound. "Don't You Want Me" reached the top ten of the US pop, dance and R&B charts.
"Don't You Want Me" landed in the Top 40 of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart the week of October 24, 1987, advancing #56 to #40. "Don't You Want Me" held on to it's peak #6 spot for three consecutive weeks, beginning December 19, 1987.
