"Don't Forget to Remember Me" is the second country single from Carrie Underwood's triple-platinum debut album Some Hearts. Underwood performed this single live on American Idol during the fifth season's finale on May 24, 2006.

[edit] Song Description

In this country music track, Underwood tells a story of the good-bye when she is ready to leave home after eighteen years. "...momma kept on talking, putting off good-bye, then she took my hand and said, 'Baby don't forget..." Not only her mother gives her good advice before leaving but also gives her some cash in case she runs "short". When she's ready to leave the house to move on with her life her mother tells her to "Not forget her". Underwood has to accept the fact that now she is living all by herself as she relates in her lyrics "This downtown apartment sure makes me miss home, and those bills there on the counter, telling me I'm on my own" In this song, the "Sister" is also mentioned in part of the song "...'Hey momma, don't forget to tell my baby sister I'll see her in the fall..." and her father takes place as well "...And make sure you tell Daddy that I'm still his little girl..."...God also plays a substantial role in this song "...Lord I feel so small sometimes, in this big old place..." "...here's a map and here's Bible, if you ever lose your way..."
