Dominus

Dominus (Latin for 'lord', plural domini) has a number of uses:

• People's names:
  • Mark Jason Dominus — a programmer.
  • The fictional character Dominus — a Jedi Master from the Star Wars universe
  • Dominus and Dominus have two versions of a character from both DC and Marvel publications

• Other uses:
  • Dominus (video game), a fantasy/strategy game similar to Dungeon Keeper. It was released in 1994 and was unusual because it allowed players (playing the role of a demigod), to create different types of magic spells, traps, and monsters.
  • Dominus (band), a death metal band from Denmark
  • Dominus (title), a title of sovereignty.
  • Dominus was the title of a clergyman, in particular a settled (i.e., resident) minister or parson. The title was also applied to members of the English monarchy after election, but before coronation.
  • Christus Dominus — the Second Vatican Council's "Decree on the Pastoral Office of Bishops".
  • Dominus Flevit Church — on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem.
  • In the anime comic book and television programme The Big O, the character Roger Smith is styled the dominus (the pilot or driver) of a giant robot or "megadeus".
