Dominick LoFaro was a Queens based associate of the Gambino crime family in captain Ralph "Ralphie Bones" Mosca's crew. Mosca's crew specialized in labor racketeering, loan sharking, and extortion. LoFaro was a bagman in the Carpenter's Union rackets as well as the bagman that took in the Gambinos share from the Greek mobsters operating in Astoria, Queens.
In the early 1980s, LoFaro was snagged in a FBI and DEA operation, in which LoFaro was charged with dealing heroin. Facing a 20+ year sentence, LoFaro decided to become an informant and wore a wire for the feds. One of LoFaro's primary targets was Gambino crime family boss John Gotti. LoFaro also gathered evidence against Ralph Mosca, his sons, and Genovese crime family associates Attilio Bitondo and Eugene Hanley.
