Domenico Mazzocchi

Domenico Mazzocchi, (1592-1665) was an Italian baroque composer, of the generation after Claudio Monteverdi. He was a composer of only vocal music, motets, oratorios and madrigals which have continuo like the late Monteverdi ones.
He is associated with providing music for the popes, particularly Cardinal Barberini who became Pope Urban VIII.
His younger brother Virgilio Mazzocchi was also a Roman composer who had a similar career as a vatican music provider.
