Dom Cioffi

Dominic P. Cioffi (born August 11, 1966) is an American writer and illustrator who created the popular Digby picture books.

Cioffi was born in Rutland, VT, the third of three sons, and attended Rutland High School. He graduated from Saint Michael's College in Colchester, VT, in 1989 with a degree in philosophy and immediately began a career as a graphic artist and writer. Between 1991 and 1993 Cioffi published the single panel cartoon The Bottom Line in newspapers and magazines across the United States and Canada. In 1994 he began writing the weekly column "Real to Reel," a self-described movie review diary that combines motion picture criticism with personal reflection. The column continues to run weekly in The Mountain Times, one of Vermont's largest newspapers.
Cioffi is most notable as the author and illustrator of Digby and the Lake Monster, a popular children's picture book that details the life of Champ (legend), the mysterious lake monster believed to inhabit Lake Champlain in northern New England. Digby and the Lake Monster is part of a series of Digby books, which all highlight popular New England themes.
Cioffi continues to reside in Vermont with his wife and son.
