[edit] Who I Am

I am a 26 year old office worker from Preston in Lancashire. I write reviews and articles for local music fanzines and websites and wish to further this career if possible.

[edit] Wikipedia and I

As a failed ArbCom and Admin nominee, I should take this time to thank those who have voted. Support and opposition is all good - Wiki is all about opinion after all! I am happy to have nominated myself for a role on the Arbitration panel for 2006, but had no confidence at all in success. This seems to be one of the reasons why the Support/Object ratio was something like 8:94 =) You win some...and you lose others!

I have become more confident in using Wiki, and have been creating pages, amending articles and the like since August2004. I embarked on bringing the {{UKrailwaystations}} category as up to date as I can, but my general interests have also meant I have been amending national flags, band articles and Olympic information.

Whilst I don't think I can count the number of UK railway stations articles I created, I completed or fleshed out the Fylde] Line from Blackpool South to Kirkham; the East Lancashire line from Preston to Blackburn, with all stations from Blackburn to Bolton; the Blackpool North to Kirkham line fleshed out from stubs; Wigan North Western and Wallgate stations and assorted suburban satellites; and part of the Preston to Bolton line through Chorley.

The biggest project I have attempted is still on-going - Constituencies in the next United Kingdom General Election. It has been a pleasure and a pain but it continues. I have been going through the pages recently to create new articles for any new creations by the Boundary Commission for England and others, as well as altering any existing seats, but is a slow process. Quite a substantial number of seats have been modified and created, but now it's spinning plates and juggling balls: not always easy! Indeed, whilst many of the articles seem to be sitting there nicely awaiting the Next United Kingdom general election, a lot of niggles and editing appears to be required.

Further to the above, the constituency project continues to develop and move in ways which show Wiki at its best... and worst. A straw poll has helped bring some continuity to the articles, there remains a lot of hard work and concentration in time bring the articles to form before the next election is called.

In total, I have created a whole host of articles, from Frucht Quark to Money Reform Party, from Moffat Toffee to Boundary change recommondations for the next UK general election.

My love of trivia has found a home here, but some of the more technical elements - such as templates and tables - are leaving me a bit confused. I still live in hope I can get help in this regard.

[edit] Conflicts Of Interest

Whether or not there was a policy on conflict of interest I know not, maybe someone can find one for me?, but just to play safe:

[edit] Shared IP grumbles

As an AOL user, I'll have to get used to shared-IP related blockages but I'm sure I'll cope! The Autoblock function is causing a Hell of a lot of headached, but there's really not a lot that can be doen so, onwards I go...
