Dogs Don't Tell Jokes is a book by acclaimed children's book author Louis Sachar. In this book, a boy named Gary W. Boone wants to be a stand-up comedian, and when he sees a poster advertising a talent show, he grabs his chance. At the end he wins the grand prize of 100 dollars.

This novel is the sequel of Someday Angeline.

Gary's real middle name is Arthur. He chose the W because he noticed that most of his favourite comedians have a name starting with the letter W (Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, Woody Allen, W. C. Fields). At the end of the book he claims his middle name is Wolfgang
