"Does Your Mother Know" is a 1979 hit song by the Swedish pop group ABBA, and was the second single to be released from their album Voulez-Vous. The B-side of the single was "Kisses of Fire," also taken from the Voulez-Vous album.

[edit] The song

"Does Your Mother Know" was recorded in early 1979 and released as a single in April of that year. Written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, the song is something of a pastiche to 1950s/early 60s-style rock and roll, and touches on the subject of a man flirting with a much younger girl. "Does Your Mother Know" deviated from the typical 'ABBA at their most famous' formula, in that the lead vocals were sung not by the female vocalists (Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad) as usually was the case, but by Björn Ulvaeus.

[edit] Chart Success

"Does Your Mother Know" was a sizable hit, reaching the top of the charts in Belgium (as most ABBA hits did), while hitting number three in the Republic of Ireland, and number four in the Netherlands and in the United Kingdom. Other top ten positions included number six in Switzerland, number seven in Australia, number nine in Zimbabwe, and number ten in West Germany. In the USA, the song charted at number nineteen.

"Does Your Mother Know" featured in the 2003 film Johnny English starring Rowan Atkinson, who lip-synchs to the song, and incidentally, also briefly sings "Thank You for the Music" earlier in the film.
