I have recently completed my Ph.D. in biology, with a focus on ichthyology. My dissertation research (Lang, 2006) investigated both the evolutionary relationships among species in the large and variable subgenus Oligocephalus (Percidae: Etheostoma) and the geographical distribution of genetic variation within two of the subgenus' species groups in the context of historical changes in river pattern and species distribution. I will be adding and maintaining postings relating to the genus Etheostoma and other North American freshwater fishes, where needed and appropriate.
