DJ Ayesha

Ayesha Asantewaa (b. London) is a disco jockey and television presenter for BBC 1Xtra and CBBC.

Ayesha attended Blaze Radio Summer School with Preston Manor High School, where she learnt to present radio, make vox pops and idents, and packages.

At age 16, she gained work experience at BBC 1Xtra and subsequently entered the Xtra Talent competition to become a DJ on the same station. She was offered a month on the Xtra Talent slot (September 2004) on Sundays 3-6am and was then given her own slot on Saturday Mornings from 6-9am aged 17.

Since January 2006 she has also presented BBC7's Big Toe Radio Show on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4-6pm alongside various co-presenters.

in April 2006, aged 18, Ayesha became a presenter of CBBC's Level Up show alongside Sam Nixon and Mark Rhodes, former presenters of Top of the Pops Reloaded with Fearne Cotton. The live show is broadcast at two different times, 9.30-10.30am during school holidays, and 7.30-8.30am during school terms. Ayesha continued to DJ on BBC 1Xtra as well as presenting the Big Show Radio show at the same time.

Ayesha has also been a member of St.John's Ambulance for 8 years and is qualified in first aid. She is also part of a Samba drumming group called Unaio da Mocidace.
