DIY SOS is a British DIY TV programme made for the BBC, presented by Nick Knowles, that is currently on its 14th series. Initially the show was also presented by Lowri Turner and later Brigid Calderhead until the "smaller project" was axed.
[edit] Format
Each week, a contestant's house is visited and renovated by the DIY SOS team. The team consists of specialised workers, such as electricians, plumbers and plasterers. The current team is made up of: Julian Perryman, Chris Frediani, Billy Byrne, Deborah Drew and Mark Millar. The project are often fairly extravagant, for example whole storeys of a house would be renovated. As well as the main renovation, a smaller project of just one room is renovated, until 2005 when this was axed with no reason given. This contestant's house is elected by the viewer using a telephone vote, and three 'pleas' are shown in the programme to persuade the viewer to vote for that person's room to be renovated. This was replaced with the team themselves deciding.
