Dixie High School is located in St. George, Utah, and can be found at 350 East 700 South. It is a Utah Class 3A school with around 1,300 students. Dixie may move up to the Utah 4A Classification for the 2007-2008 school year. Dixie High is known in Southern Utah for its rich traditions and history. The school's mascot is the Flyer. Craig Hammer is the current principal of the school, and he is known for playing basketball at the college level. Dixie High School was the first high school in St. George, Utah.

Dixie High School offers a wide variety of Advanced Placement programs and opportunities for concurrent enrollment at the nearby Dixie State College of Utah. Furthermore, Dixie had a competitive Academic Decathlon program for several years and occasionally sends students to Ivy League schools. Dixie High's Drill Team, the Jettetes, earned 1st place at a national competition in 2006. The Flyer Color Guard also won the Utah State Championship in 2006.

In 2004 Dixie High School was moved into a brand new, three story building. The old building was torn down in 2004. By the beginning of the 2005-2006 school year, the brand new Dixie High school campus was complete, with a new Gym and a water feature stretching along the school between the gymnasium and the main school building. Much of the old school is now gone, but there is one classroom left over from the old school which is used for auto-tech type classes.

[edit] Dixie Flyer Fight Song

We'll fight for the cause of Dixie, no stain shall mar her name. Her foes shall meet sure disaster, as they meet her in life's game. Resistless her men push onward, as they hold her banners high. Defeat never comes to Dixie, for she has no alibi.

Dixie, Dixie, Dixie, Dixie, Dixie, Dixie, Dixie, Dixie, Dixie,

We'll stand by her through all trials, At her shrine our knees will bend. A faithful guide she has ever been, When we needed most a friend. Her mountains and hills may crumble, but her spirit ner' will die, Defeat never comes to Dixie, for she has no alibi!!!

[edit] Dixie High School Hymn

Oh Dixie we love thee, To thee, We'll be true. Oh Dixie we honor thee with thy emblems white and blue. Thy days always golden, thy skies so fair, Shed radiance on Dixie High and warm our spirit rare.

As I wander down life's highway, May I always take with me, The memories of Dixie High wherever I may be.

So three cheers for Dixie High and to her noble quest, For learning and honor, May we always give our best. A prayer for our Dixie High, the bold Blue and White, May ideals they stand for, E're be a Beacon Light.
