Division of Makin

The Division of Makin is an electoral division for the Australian House of Representatives located in the northeastern suburbs of Adelaide. Established in 1984 and named after Norman Makin, a former MP and diplomat, it has been a marginal seat at most elections since. It includes the suburbs of Tea Tree Gully, Modbury, Salisbury Heights and Para Hills.

It is known as a mortgage belt seat, with a large proportion of the population in the area paying off home loans. This is believed to be one of the key factors in a shift in voter allegiance to the Liberal party in recent years.
