Division of Gellibrand

The Division of Gellibrand is an Australian Electoral Division in Victoria. The division was created in 1949 and is named for Joseph Gellibrand, a pioneer settler of the Melbourne area. It is located in the western suburbs of Melbourne and includes Footscray, Maidstone, Altona and Williamstown. It has always been one of the safest seats in Australia for the Australian Labor Party. Its most prominent member has been Ralph Willis, a Cabinet minister in the Hawke and Keating governments.
