Division de Honor de Beisbol
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Division de Honor de Beisbol is the highest level of professional baseball in Spain and is overseen by RFEBS. It is currently a 12 team league that plays a 48 game schedule from March to May. The games are played principally on weekends. The playoff series follow a best-of-seven format. The team plays all other teams twice, once at home and once away, and two matches in the same day, during the regular season. The top three teams of each group at the end of the regular season play in the Final Play-off competing for the title of Spanish Baseball Champion and the last three play the promotion for the relegation. The champion and other top teams play in the various European leagues and championships.
Most of the teams are based in the Catalonia and Navarre provinces of Spain. Many of the official team nicknames contain the name of the team's corporate sponsor.
The twelve teams that will play in the Division de Honor in 2006/2007 are:
