DIVISEEMA is a geographically a small and fertile island in Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, India; well known for contributing major literary and cultural personalities of Telugu. Notable places in Diviseema include Movva, Sangameswaram, Bhavadevarapalli and Avanigadda being its Headquarters.

The Krishna River is divided into two at Puligadda before merging in the Bay of Bengal and the delta area formed in between constitutes Diviseema.

Divisema starts at Puligadda. Recently a new bridge was constructed at Puligadda connecting Repalle and Puligadda.

[edit] Tragedy in 1977

The region became world famous due to the unprecedented human loss suffered during the tidal wave (called UPPENA in Telugu) across this region in November 1977. It is estimated that 10,000 people died in this natural calamity.
