Talk:Distance modulus

[edit] Failed GA
I've removed this from the list of GA self nominations for a few reasons. The article is rather short, it's basically a definition and examples. All references are tangential, merely verifying that the examples given are factual. How did the concept of the distance modulus arise? How did it become standard?
In the case of the LMC, this means that the supernova SN1987A, with a peak apparent magnitude of 2.8, had an absolute magnitude of -15.7 - fairly low by supernova standards. — How the reader supposed to understand that this follows? More importantly, is it germane to the article? Pagrashtak 00:12, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
