Dpart functions at a grass roots level in promoting volunteerism and social work within local communities throughout Islamabad/Rawalpindi in Pakistan, its functions should be listed as a) providing a volunteer (cost free) search and rescue team to assist when traditional emergency service capabilities have been overwhelmed. b) to provide preparedness and response training to vulnerable communities by providing free of cost to local communities in earthquake safety and emergency management. c) to foster close relationships with ngo's and orginizations working in a similar capacity both nationally and internationally to build capacity and promote intrest on the subject.

Considering at present pakistan has no true "volunteer" search and rescue team dpart is setting a very positive precident for future NGO's and CBO's to follow or participate in.

[edit] Added importance template back

Previous anon user edited importance to importance-volunteerism, which broke due to a non-existent template. I don't know enough about this topic to evaluate the importance, but it should be debated rather than just removing the template. RainbowCrane 06:14, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
