Dishdash

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The dishdash is an overgarment worn by some Muslim women. It is an article of clothing worn in accordance with Islamic requirements for modesty of dress. The dishdash resembles a closed-front floorlength robe. The sleeves extend to the wrists. They are often decorated with ornate embroidery, however styles change according to region and personal taste. The dishdash covers the whole body with exception of hands, feet and head. It is nearly always worn with hijab, a wrap worn to cover one's hair.

In the Persian Gulf the Dishdash is often known as a thobe.
