Its sound combines elements of Melodic hardcore, Stoner Metal, Cowpunk, Blues-Rock, Emo, Alternative country, Grunge, Folk-Rock and many others.

Its sound has been heavily influenced by artists such as: Meat Puppets, The Cramps, Nirvana, Hüsker Dü, The Replacements, X, Black Sabbath, and southwest Virginia band Bludfed. The sound has also been referred to as Hardcore Cowpunk, Dead-core (as in the Grateful Dead), and Anarcho-Roots.
