Directron is dba for Chang-Sheng, Inc. Corporation. Chang-Sheng (Inc) was formed in 1991. Shortly, it opened its computer retail store in Houston, Texas, with the name "Houston Computer Center". Then, in 1998 the internet had become mature enough for on-line stores and Directron.com had emerged among the first e-Stores to compliment its "brick & mortar" store. Through the years, the company had acquired a few other business, some were competitors, others were business opportunities. One special characteristic of Directron.com in the past was the availability of hard to find accessories for people who wanted to "mod" (modify) their cases to appear more unique. Custom do-it-yourself case windows, lights, case badges and etc were a novelty and Directron was one of the few places which offered such products. Most likely, the early success was greatly attributed to Chang-Sheng's ability to buy directly from Asian manufacturers.
