Diocese of Darjeeling

The Diocese of Darjeeling is a Roman Catholic Diocese situated in the north east of India. It includes within its territory the independent Himalayan state of Bhutan, where Christianity is forbidden. The current bishop is Stephen Lepcha. There are around 32,000 Catholics in the diocese, just under 1% of the total population. The diocese is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Calcutta.
