Dinoco

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dinoco is a fictional gas station company used in Pixar animation films; it has been mentioned in Toy Story and in Cars. It has a name similar to the name of Sunoco (and possibly Conoco), while using the green dinosaur of Sinclair. The company's signature color is a pale blue shade referred to as 'Dinoco blue' in Cars which is the same shade as Strip 'The King' Weathers, himself based on Richard Petty's 1970 Plymouth Superbird. In Toy Story, Dinoco appears in the form of a gas station where Buzz Lightyear and Sheriff Woody get into a fight and become separated from their owner. In Cars, Dinoco is the main sponsor of The King, a veteran racer on the verge of retirement. The company's lavish sponsorship is highly sought after by the main charcter Lightning McQueen and his rival Chick Hicks. After cheating in the last race (intentionally causing The King to crash), Chick is denied the Dinoco sponsorship which is then offered to Lightning, who declines in favor of remaining with his current sponsor, Rust-eze. Not much is known about the company's corporate hierarchy, with the exception of its' CEO being a 1975 Cadillac Coupe de Ville with gold paint and a set of horns from a Longhorn mounted in place of a hood ornament named Tex (voiced by H.A. 'Humpy' Wheeler) in Cars.
