Ding Zilin (Chinese: 丁子霖; born December 20, 1936 or January 1, 1939 [1]) is currently the leader of the Tiananmen Mothers. Her seventeen-year-old son, Jiang Jielian, was shot and killed by the government troops in the 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre. She united the parents of the killed students to form the Tiananmen Mothers. She has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts. In 2006, she and the other Tiananmen Mothers were put under house arrest shortly before the anniversary of the massacre to prevent them from holding any public memorial or protest.[1]
