Dina Astita

Dina Astita is an Indonesian teacher. She is a survivor of the Indian Ocean tsunami who coordinated efforts to restart schooling in her remote Sumatran town in 2004/2005. She is widely respected as an example of an ordinary person who can overcome tragedy and put a positive idea in motion. Her influential role in world events was recognised by TIME Magazine, which included her in its list of 100 most influential people of 2005.
