[edit] Spurs

I see he's already here as a Tottenham player but is his move to Spurs finalized? I thought it was still pending a work permit being issued? --JamesTheNumberless 14:15, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

I didn't know about the work permit issue. We should note that. Anyway, I see very little probability that he is denied a permit: he is a regular international and has worked in the EU for several years now.--Cryout 14:31, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
Very true, I had the same thoughts myself. Still, I thought it best to leave him off the Spurs team sheet until he officially joins on the 1st of July and just reflect that he is set to join Spurs on that date. --JamesTheNumberless 12:41, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
"Due to work permit regulations the transfer is to be completed on 1 July 2006." This can't be true. It has to be down to the transfer market being closed until this date, nothing to do with a work permit... Thnom 13:48, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Currency

Is there a Wikipedia policy on what currency to use? Here Tottenham pays in UK pounds, Leverkusen cares only about Euros and Dimitar Berbatov is actually Bulgarian and it is thus important to quote the transfer sum in Bulgarian leva. I would choose the leva, other would prefer other currencies. How is this decided? --Cryout 22:03, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Bulgaria will be a EU member, UK already a EU member. Here is the policy. Matthew hk 01:06, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
The actual currency which exchanged hands would have been Euros and As the transfer was between a German and an English club, the Leva doesn't enter anywhere into the equation. The Leverkusen page should show the amount he was sold for in Euros, the Tottenham page should show the amount he was bought for in pounds, the Berbatov page (except on the Bulgarian language version) should show the amount in Euros. Leva, if used at all, could only really appear on a page dealing with Bulgarian footballers or famous Bulgarians in general. It is also worth noting that USD and Euro are extremely useful currencies to give values in because firstly they are highly stable and secondly most people in countries with local currencies will have a good understanding of the current value of one or the other relative to their own currency. --JamesTheNumberless 10:01, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hotspur

Just replaced all instances of "Tottenham Hotspurs" with the correct name of the club. I realise that's how the team is known in much of central Europe but this is the English language Wikipedia and in one or two cases this was causing links to be broken. --JamesTheNumberless 10:15, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
