Dimitrios Zaphiropoulos

Dimitris Zaphiropoulos (born 1973) is the leader of the far-right Patriotic Alliance, a minor Greek political party.
Born in Athens, he has resided in the Kipseli district all his life. At the age of 13, he joined the youth wing of the far-right National Political Union. In 1990, he joined the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn organisation and was a member of the its political council.
In 1998 he completed his studies in law at the University of Athens.
In 1999, he created the magazine Antepithesi (Counter Attack), which attempts to popularise Neo-nazi ideas among young people through music and sports.
In 2003, he relaunched the newspaper Eleytheros Kosmos (Free World), which was inactive for almost 20 years.
In the spring of 2004 he called on Greek far-rightists to join his new Patriotic Alliance party, which took part in the European elections later that year. Shortly afterwards, he was elected general secretary of the party's political council.
Zaphiropoulos was a candidate in the 2006 Athens municipal elections, where he received 1.35% of the total vote.
