Dilberito

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dilberito is a microwave burrito produced by Scott Adams Foods, Inc. and named after the comic strip character Dilbert.

[edit] Health, critics and sales

Dilberito is a vegetarian and vegan microwave burrito. It is said to be engineered to deliver 100% of the recommended daily intake of 23 vitamins and minerals. First pitched in The Dilbert Future, it currently comes in the flavors of Mexican, Indian, Barbecue, and Garlic & Herb, and is sold through some health stores. The product has been often rejected by healthfood culture owing to the corn syrup in the Indian and Garlic & Herb versions, as well as the culture's ready distrust of external branding. As a result, the Dilberito has been unable to break the mainstream dominance of unhealthy products despite CEO (and creator of Dilbert) Scott Adams’s prediction of rapid proliferation of affordable and healthy foods.

[edit] Availability

The Dilberito products were originally available through several convenience store chains as well as a mail-order delivery service, which came with a large box of Dilberitos and dry ice. Currently, the Dilberito is out of production, but product representative Jack Parker advises that it will soon return with an eye on selling through Amazon.com along with a return to traditional retailers. Amazon.com are investigating frozen food sales, and more customers asking Amazon to carry the Dilberito increases the likelihood of this happening.
