Hi, you've uploaded pictures about Karachi that have been imported on the french WP. But you did'nt mention the licence of them. So, could you please tell us here if they're public domain, GFDL or else ? Thanks --Pontauxchats 09:51, 8 Apr 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Uploaded image
Hi. You appear to have uploaded Image:Jannat al Baqi.jpg without specifying what the image's copyight is. If the source website does not specify the copyright, that does not mean that we can use it. Please do not upload images if you are not sure about their copyright status; better ask the ocpyright holder (i.e. the webmaster) first. Thanks. — Timwi 15:02, 19 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- Now varified as from http;//www.al-islam.org/ - we are, as a non-commercial educational website allowed to use the image. I have restored and included an notice on the images page.--OldakQuill 15:23, 19 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Also, you may know this considering your knowledge base. Could you tell me what name prefixes such as "al-" (which I have heard was son of) and "ben-" (father of?), ar-, el-, bin-, at-, and ibn-. Also is - 'Abd - a name? --OldakQuill 15:34, 19 Apr 2004 (UTC)

How does one edit the msg: command lines, like there is one: msg:New_York
I would like to add a new region to that command line so that it shows up on all pages that containg msg:New_York
How do I do that?
- Msg is a tag for the mediawiki namespace. can be edited at Mediawiki:Itn. can be edited at Mediawiki:New York. PS - for simple questions like that, in the future, please use the Wikipedia:Newcomers' help desk. →Raul654 18:24, Apr 20, 2004 (UTC)
Hi
I see you created a Vancouver Grizzlies page would you mind if I merge it with the Memphis Grizzlies pageSmith03 17:57, 24 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Hi thanks for the response, I left the V Grizzlies page but did add the history part of it Memphis. I agree that defuct teams should be included in wiki but the Vancouver Grizzlies are not defunct they just relocated to Memphis. I don't know if there is a standard or not but for the most part teams that relocated are not treated as seperate article, for example the Minneapolis Lakers are redirected to the Los Angeles Lakers or the Minnesota North Stars are to the Dallas Stars. [edit] Image:Ghulam ishaq khan.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Ghulam ishaq khan.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use gfdl if you release it under the GFDL, or fairuse if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Hi! Thanks for uploading the following image:
I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? [edit] Article Licensing
Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

[edit] Discussion at Talk:Pakistan
Would you like to join the animated discussion on the Pakistan's talk page? The current issue is whether "Pakistan is famous for its support of Taliban and 9/11 terrorist" is a suitable sentence to start the article's first paragraph. Your contribution would be much appreciated, as the current discussion seems to be more of a dialog between Ragib and SamTr014 Talk:Pakistan. Thanks !--PrinceA 06:35, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Luckily, the general consensus was against SamTr014 (talk • contribs)'s jingoistic attempt, and the article was ultimately moved to a standard-country-level-article status. I'm happy to say that the consensus initiated by several neutral observers worked out just fine. --Ragib 16:41, 7 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Syed Mohammad Jaunpuri
Can you please check out Syed Mohammad of Jaunpur which is definitely the same person as Syed Mohammad Jaunpuri. I noticed you did a good job of editing Syed Mohammad Jaunpuri, and I was wondering if you could perform the merge, since I don't know much about the material. [edit] Syed Jaunpuri OR of Jaunpur
Hi, DigiBullet & Jeff3000, Initially the article Syed Mohammad Jaunpuri was created by AMahdawi. A follower of that faith as the nick denotes. Later it was lost for some unknown reason. Then I couldn't find that article to link it from the claimants link, a sub section of the Mahdi article. Henceforth I have composed the biographical topic under the article named Syed Mohammad of Jaunpur. I would suggest that whichever page is more complete that must be left alone and the other one deleted. BTW, I too am from the members of the same belief, I can comprehensively shed light on the subject, holding strictly to the NOPV requirement. History could be much reliably recorded from the people of the land about which the history is to be gathered. Accuracy may be deduced by cross checking with the critics. [edit] June Meetup in New York
Hi, I noticed you on a list of New Yorkers and while your user page says you are currently a grad student at Harvard, perhaps you might be in the NYC area in June. If you are interested we are having a meetup for Wikipedians in June in NYC. Take a peek at this and please tell any other Wikipedians that you think might be interested in participating about this event. Thanks. Alex756 02:25, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Iskander mirza.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Iskander mirza.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. howcheng {chat} 19:39, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
