[edit] Ireland

Digiweb offer a variety of broadband services in Ireland: Satellite broadband, DSL broadband (over standard eircom-leased phone line) and Wireless broadband. As of 2006 the DSL broadband has higher speeds available than some other providers, with more premium services offering up to 5 Mb downstream (although only a maximum of 256 kb upstream, this is usually limited by eircom).

The main wireless broadband service, marketed as Metro offers from 3 Mb (basic service) to 6 Mb (expensive premium service) broadband. Transceiver locations are the main cities, Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Waterford, as well as the town of Dundalk. The service is similar to that of Irish Broadband, in that it requires line-of-sight to the transceiver location. Services are offered up to 10 km from the point-of-service.

A smaller-scale wireless broadband service is offered in smaller towns around the country, with basic broadband speeds and reduced range.
