Digimon Tamer

A Digimon Tamer is a fictional term specific to the Digimon franchise that refers to a human being who has become the partner of a Digimon. This term is primarily used in the Digimon Tamers anime and should not be confused with the term "DigiDestined", which refers to humans with Digimon partners in the Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02 series. (The DigiDestined of Digimon Frontier do not have Digimon partners because they evolve into Digimon themselves.)
It should be noted, however, that there exists no clear distinction between a Digimon Tamer and a DigiDestined. In addition to having Digimon partners, both groups also use some sort of Digivice, devices that are crucial to triggering the Digivolution of their partners. Thus, the only clear difference between them is that they are given different names.
In terms of fiction, Digimon Tamers appear prominently in Digimon Tamers, Digimon Adventure V-Tamer 01, Digimon Next, and many of the Digimon video games, such as Digimon World, Digimon World 2 and others. The main characters of Digimon Savers are called "Tamers" in promotional material but are never referred to as such in the series.
