Digi-Key is the sixth largest electronics component supplier of more than 500 North American suppliers in this industry. It is arguably the largest to worldwide hobbyists. Founded in 1972, the company gets its name from the founder Ronald Stordahl's amateur radio radiotelegraph keyer kit, the Digi-Key. Mark Larson, general manager since 1976 and president since 1985, brought the company in from the hobbyist market to the design engineering/prototype market. Digi-Key's business model is primarily direct-market mail order through their catalog or website.
Digi-Key is located in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.
