From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Digby and the Lake Monster (2006) is a children's picture book written and illustrated by Dom Cioffi. It tells the story of Digby, a young boy living in New England who discovers a strange creature in the lake near his house. After bragging to classmates about his discovery, Digby watches as the lake monster is captured by a scientist. Digby feels terrible about the lake monster's fate so he takes steps to rectify the problem.

The story of Digby and the Lake Monster was inspired by the legend of Champ (legend), the mysterious creature said to inhabit Lake Champlain in northern New England.

Digby and the Lake Monster is the first in a series of Digby picture books. Other books include Digby Tracks a Catamount, and Digby's Snowboard Season.
