Hi. Would it be possible, please, for you to change the colour of Adelaide Street, from yellow to red on the map, as the yellow colour gives the wrong impression about the street, which is actually one of Brisbane's major streets. Adelaide Street is not a small street or insignificant street - nor is the street short, or narrow, as the map would appear to designate it as being - please see my photo of a portion of Adelaide Street Image:Adelaide-Street-Brisbane.jpg, which will show what the street is actually like.

Adelaide Street contains many important Brisbane landmarks, including Brisbane's Shrine of Remembane and its 'Eternal Flame', at Anzac Square, on one side of Adelaide Street, and Post Office Square on the other side of Adelaide Street.

Also, on Adelaide Street, is the major Brisbane City Council administration area, which includes Brisbane City Hall and King George Square.

There are also other important Brisbane landmarks etc. on Adelaide Street, as well as Adelaide Street containing Brisbane's "bus mall".

I would have requested the artist who made the original map, and uploaded it to Wikipedia, to re-colour Adelaide Street, under normal circumstances, but now have to request you to do so as you have created the gif map to replace the orginal map.

I've made the changes because it because it was a fairly simple procedure and it was on my hard drive, but it's a strange rule that you've made up that because I converted a picture that I should be the one to make future changes (the original is still right here, and I added a link in my upload). I was writing to say thank you for making the map of Brisbane CBD streets more correct now than it was previously. I did not expect the type of antagonism which you have displayed, though, in your reply to what I had intended as a courteous and reasonable request. The original Brisbane CBD map was made by Astrokey, who did not know Brisbane streets, and who stated that the map was drawn from information based on a number of maps.

I am a resident of Brisbane and was commenting on the actual situation here with regard to the streets, so I take full responsibility for the change of the status given for Adelaide Street. Figaro 12:06, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for making it look like it was worthwhile on Australian Space Research Institute. Sorry I was a couple hours (or a day!) earlier tonight rolling to the next one than I often manage. I did it when I remembered it. It's still disappointing that the number of edits (not editors!) is less than the number of votes was. I suspect Rum Rebellion will go the same way. And there are other cases like It's Time that a single editor advanced from nothing to almost complete during the nomination period, so others had little to add except polish. Hi, did the bumps and bruises section really need a re-write? I'd be all about seeing more info brought into the piece, but I think the prose was pretty good as it was. Obviously a) I'm biased, and b) shit can be edited mercilessly, so dont think I'm too mad about any of this ;) There are a couple of things in there now that I'm not sure about, especially: as I recall McGregor blames the swelling on mosquito bites in the show - I cant remember a black widow, although I could be wrong; and blaming the problems or delay caused by the "red devil" breaking down on a "lack of mechanical expertise", none of them are mechanics and it was a pretty random type of bike, I think thats unduly critical. Nice one for getting involved, I've been working on this for a while (it was really the first big article I really edited), and while FA might be ambitious it's something to aim for if we can expand, as well as touch up the article. It was just my input having recently seen the show and yes, it did need a little refinement in my opinion (no offense) otherwise I would have left it alone. They mention something about a black widow spider mating season in Kazakhstan in the extras if memory serves correct, and I remember Ewan himself mentioning a spider bite when showing the dot under his mole (have to review the footage to be 100% certain though). The only problem he had with mosquitos I recall was an itchy arse.

They admitted themselves that they had the tools to fix the bike but didn't know how to use them, it doesn't seem unfair to say that a lack of knowledge prevented them from fixing it themselves. It's not like I wrote that they were dumb or something.

I think the article could definitely be expanded, with the series and book there's a wealth of material. Look at the page that was created out of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?. Diceman 21:18, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

I've touched up a couple of things, (eg I really think "testament" is more appropriate than "advertisement") and I'll also endeavour to take a look at the DVD to clear up the spider / mozzie question. I do wonder how much more can be said about the series, if I thought it there was enough there for it to be pushed towards an FA, or even worthy of a peer review I'd be willing to go for it. • Finally got round to checking the DVD, after Ewan first shows the bite Claudio jokes that it could be a spider bite, and Ewan says with mock bravado words to the effect of "Yes, I think I got bitten by a black widow and I'm too hard to admit it". In his rather more serious video diary later he says it is a mosquito bite. Some quick research also shows that black widow bites cause the venom to spread through the body, and while only causing fatalities in 5% of cases still cause serious bodily discomfort from muscle contraction. I then discovered a contemporary IMDb news report which confirms he was actually treated for the effect of a mosquito bite and warned the trip might have to be cancelled [2], also reported here [3], something which wasn't mentioned on the series. There are also news reports of McGregor suffering a lumpy penis due to bites, which I'll be adding to the article. Deizio talk 23:10, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure I understand exactly what's going on with this image. Apparently it's been nominated for deletion, but there was no {{ifd}} tag on the image description page. And I agree that the PNG version is no better than the JPEG version in this case, since the PNG was created directly from the JPEG. So there are some good arguments for keeping the JPEG version around.

On the other hand, ideally this logo should be a PNG; surely there is some PNG version of the DOOP logo out there somewhere. That's the reason I put the {{badJPEG}} tag on it. A pure PNG version will have a smaller file size and no compression artifacts. Since with the current MediaWiki software it's easier to replace a PNG with a PNG than a JPEG with a PNG, we might as well leave the current PNG version around, even though it's not an improvement over the JPEG.

In any case, we have duplicate images, and one of them needs to go. Since the JPEG version isn't being used in any articles, I've tagged it as being an orphaned fair-use image. If you have any questions, please let me know. —Bkell (talk) 10:57, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

You reverted my edits designed to sort out the events in North America, which (unlike now) then represented the great majority of worldwide consumer spending on video games. What that leaves is three interesting but minor systems mixed in with the big three systems, and I think a reader doesn't get a real sense of how things unfolded.

Rather than do an edit war, I figured I'd just ask: what information about the market elsewhere in the world was omitted that we should add? If we include that information, then clarifying the North American market (which alone was close to $10 billion in today's US dollars in 1982) won't be in danger of slighting someone else. Thanks. The image is not a modified version of the one originally uploaded (which I believe came from Gutenberg ?). The one I uploaded came from a scanned page of Davis' "Tracks of McKinlay and party across Australia", Sampson, Low & Son & Co, London 1863. This is the original colour of the lithograph in the book and I have uploaded the picture as a .bmp to http://www.burkeandwills.net.au/w_j_wills.bmp if you want to copy and play with it (3MB). I believe the lithograph came from a photograph in the State Library of NSW which is at http://image.sl.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/photoshow.pl?doc=photo2005/a744;seq=4 User:Rocketfrog
