Talk:Dict.org

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When I try to do any kind of search on dict.org besides "Return Definitions", it cuts off the first letter so it ends up with something like "refix is not a valid search strategy, use -S for a list Return Definition". Does anyone know any way I can do different search strategies? Daniel 21:15, 1 August 2005 (UTC)

Seems like a server-side problem -- the search form misses the first letter for all other options than Return Definitions. Just do it manually with
http://www.dict.org/bin/Dict?Strategy=Exact&Database=*&Form=Dict1&Query=foo
where Exact is your strategy and foo is your search term.
You should be able to figure out the IDs of the strategies from the error messages or the HTML source. They are missing the initial letter, so it requires a little bit of thinking, but it's not that difficult. Ashmodai 21:48, 2 August 2005 (UTC)
