Talk:Dict.org
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
When I try to do any kind of search on dict.org besides "Return Definitions", it cuts off the first letter so it ends up with something like "refix is not a valid search strategy, use -S for a list Return Definition". Does anyone know any way I can do different search strategies? Daniel 21:15, 1 August 2005 (UTC)
- Seems like a server-side problem -- the search form misses the first letter for all other options than Return Definitions. Just do it manually with
- http://www.dict.org/bin/Dict?Strategy=Exact&Database=*&Form=Dict1&Query=foo
- where Exact is your strategy and foo is your search term.
- You should be able to figure out the IDs of the strategies from the error messages or the HTML source. They are missing the initial letter, so it requires a little bit of thinking, but it's not that difficult. Ashmodai 21:48, 2 August 2005 (UTC)
