Dichlorine heptoxide, Cl2O7, is a chlorine oxide.

Dichlorine heptoxide is the anhydride of perchloric acid; it is related to perchlorates generally.

Dichlorine heptoxide melts at −91.5 °C and boils at 82 °C.

It is highly explosive and can be set off with flame, mechanical shock, and on contact with some substances.

It is produced by the careful distillation of perchloric acid that has been dehydrated with phosphorus pentoxide, the distillation should be safe at atmospheric pressure if it is truly free of perchloric acid. It is slowly hydrolyzed back into perchloric acid; this can be dangerous since the resulting acid will be anhydrous, and anhydrous perchloric acid can detonate without reason.
