Dibyendu Barua

Dibyendu Barua (born October 27, 1966) is a chess Grandmaster hailing from the city of Kolkata (Calcutta) in the Indian state of West Bengal. He is the second Indian to become a Grandmaster after Viswanathan Anand. In 1978 Barua, as a 12-year-old, became the youngest participant in the Indian National championship of chess. In 1982, Barua beat the then world number two Grand Master Viktor Korchnoi in London. In 1983, he won national championship for the first time. Barua became a Grandmaster in 1991.
