Diagramme (P, V, T) de changement de phase d'un corps pur.

Les surfaces délimitent les zones d'existence de la phase solide, de la phase liquide et de la phase gazeuse.

Notez que pour une phase donnée, P, V et T sont liés à par une équation d'état (telle que l'équation des gaz parfaits, ou pour les solides la loi de déformation élastique). Un quatrième paramètre intervient, la quantité de matière n, ce qui fait que le diagramme ne contient pas de "zone interdite" (on peut faire varier simultanément P, V et T, ).

The surfaces separate the zones where the solid, liquid and gas phases exist (phase boundaries).

For a given phase, P, V and T are linked by a state equation (like the ideal gas law, or the elasticity law for solids). There is a fourth parameter, the amount of substance n, there is therefore no "forbidden zone" in the diagram (P, V and T can vary simultaneously).
