Diamante is a city in the west of the province of Entre Ríos, Argentina, on the eastern shore of the Paraná River. It has about 20,000 inhabitants as per the 2001 census [INDEC]. It is the head town of the Diamante Department, which also includes the cities and towns of Aldea Valle María, General Ramírez, Libertador San Martín, Las Cuevas, Aldea Protestante, Aldea Brasilera, Colonia Ensayo, Aldea Spatzenkutter, Estancia Racedo (El Carmen), General Alvear, Isletas, Estación Camps, Costa Grande, Aldea Salto, and Aldea Grapschental.
The town of Diamante was founded on 1836-02-27, and became a first-class municipality on 1872-05-13.
