Diacritical is a Washington DC based experimental rock band officially formed in 2004. They define their sound as rock that’s influenced by concepts from music all over the world. Ideas like drone and linear improvisation, scales and modes from other cultures, Call and response (music), polyrhythmic grooves and odd time signatures.

The band pokes fun at the concept of labeling music by using parody or mock Music genres such as "Peace-Core", "Punkservative", "Ethno deth funk emo", "Wacktronica", "Fraggle Rock" and " Bhangra-core".

The band promotes a message of peace and tolerance. They are big fans of activist concepts such as culture jamming, subvertising, civil disobedience, nonviolence, voluntary simplicity, message-based stencil art, street fart, DIY ethic and moral purchasing.
